Welcome Dr. Allyson Merbaum as the Faculty Development Program Director, DFCM!

Congratulations to Dr. Allyson Merbaum who has been appointed by the University of Toronto Department of Family and Community Medicine as the Faculty Development Program Director. The Faculty Development Program Director is responsible for leadership and coordination of a broad range of faculty development activities designed to improve knowledge and skills in education, research, quality, innovation, global health, leadership and scholarship at DFCM.

Dr. Merbaum is an Assistant Professor in DFCM and family doctor at North York General Hospital (NYGH). Since joining DFCM in 2002, she has held a number of leadership roles including NYGH Professional Development Lead and Postgraduate Site Director. As an active teacher, having taught extensively at pre-clerkship, clerkship and postgraduate levels. She has played a key role in faculty development at NYGH as site director and as co-developer of a recently launched Virtual Care Competency Training Roadmap (ViCCTR) module for faculty supervising learners in virtual care.

We’d like to welcome Dr. Merbaum in her new role to the Centre for Faculty Development’s Faculty Development Leads Community! We are incredibly excited to have her expertise join our growing community.

We would also like to thank Dr. Viola Antao, outgoing Faculty Development Program Director (DFMC) for her impactful work with the Centre, within the Faculty Development Leads community and beyond. Her vigor, enthusiasm and leadership have contributed significantly to the Centre and our communities. We are looking forward to working with Dr. Antao various other spaces and communities within the Centre.
