Description

This reflective workshop will explore the relationship between Indigenous peoples and settlers, and examine the history of laws and policies and how they’ve shaped those relationships.  We will unpack the ideas of colonization and identity, and explore how those current terms are based on those historical relationships.  We will conclude by collaboratively reflecting on how we can bring this understanding and into our education practice.

**We strongly recommend participants arrive having taking the other Stepping Stones workshops “Who’s Got The Power?: Barriers and Opportunities in Advancing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging”, or external learning that provides a working understanding of privilege, systemic oppression, bias, stereotype, white supremacy and anti-oppression.
