At the Teaching for Transformation Conference this year, our team members, Lavinia Kajura (Education Coordinator, Evaluation and Strategy) and Qian Wu (Research Lead), shared CFD’s research with the broader community.
Lavinia Kajura presented a quality improvement study on the renewal of the New and Evolving Academic Leaders Program (NEAL) program. This study culminated the work of project team members Latika Nirula, Lavinia Kajura, Manpreet Saini, and Cate Creede-Desmarais.
The goal renewal purposefully embed the principles of Equity, Diversity, Indigeneity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIIA) through the curriculum of the program. The study included perspectives of the program team and examined other supplementary program documents such as admission practices. Overall, the aim was to uncover the process of a renewal of this type and provide potential guidance for others embarking on similar renewals.
Qian Wu, on behalf of the project team with Abigail Fisher, Betty Onyura, Hollie Mullins, Lindsay Baker and Malika Sharma, presented a recently published study in Medical Teachers, titled “Equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-oppression focused faculty development: Tensions in programming in health professions education”.
