Q: How much does membership cost? How long does it last?

A: Membership is valid for the duration of one academic year (September 1 to June 30). General Membership for one academic year costs $90 per person. All participants enrolled in a longitudinal program at the CFD (3 months or longer), will be automatically enrolled as a General Member at the start of the academic year. CFD Faculty Membership is free and members will automatically be enrolled in the CFD Faculty Membership category.  Institutional Membership is sold in batches of 50 and costs $70 per person for one academic year.

Q: I work for an Institution that has purchased Institutional Membership for our faculty. How do I register?

A: Institutions that have purchased batches of membership for their faculty are provided with a private registration link specific to their organization. Contact the person responsible for professional development at your organization to request access to your institution’s registration link. If you encounter any difficulty, please contact our help line at cfd.memberships@gmail.com

Q: Is having a CFD Membership the same as having a CFD account?

A: No, a CFD Membership is not the same as a CFD account. However, in order to complete your CFD Membership registration you will be prompted to create a CFD account if you do not already have one. To register for a CFD Individual Membership or a CFD Faculty Membership and create your account click here.

Q: If I am a CFD Faculty Member, do I also need General Membership?

A: No, you have access to all of the perks of the General Membership category through your CFD Faculty Membership.

Q: I’m a faculty/learner within the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at UofT. Do I have access to unlimited workshops?

A: When you sign up for a General Membership [free to Temerty Faculty of Medicine learner, staff or faculty (including status only)] you will have access to two free workshops within the academic year (September 1 to June 30), among other perks.

Q: I work/study at Unity Health Toronto. Do I have access to unlimited workshops?

A: When you sign up for a General Membership (free to Unity Health Toronto staff, physician, learner, patient/family partners) you will have access to two free workshops within the academic year (September 1 to June 30), among other perks.

Q: I work for a community-based organization, and we have limited access to faculty development/professional development funding. What do you suggest for me?

A: Contact the person responsible for professional development at your organization to determine if Institutional Membership would benefit your organization.  Institutional Membership enables batch purchase of membership at a discounted rate which may make membership more accessible.  For some of our programs, we also offer bursaries to enable greater access to programming by removing financial barriers.

Q: Do I get discounts for CFD longitudinal programs as part of my membership?

A: Yes, for all longitudinal programs that three months or longer.  Visit our program pages to learn more about member rates for our programs. Please ensure you are an active member at the time of registration to take advantage of the discount. Please note: Member discounts do not apply to affiliated programs.

Q: I am currently enrolled in longitudinal program. Do I need to still sign up for membership?

A: No.  We are excited to welcome you to the CFD membership program through your enrollment in any of our longitudinal programs (that are at least three months in length).  This will automatically happen at the beginning of the academic year.
