    Ernie Lam is a tenured full professor in the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto.  For 13 years, Ernie served as the Director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology residency program, and for 7 years, he was the Associate Dean, Graduate Education in the Faculty. Since 2015, Ernie has been a member of the University of Toronto’s Governing Council where he served 6 years as the Chair of the Committee on Academic Policy and Programs, and currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Academic Board. In addition to these roles, Dr. Lam has been a leader in academic, professional and testing organizations in Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology in both Canada and the United States.
  • Euson Yeung

    Education Scholars Program

    Lecturer, Department of Physical Therapy

    Euson Yeung is a physiotherapist and a lecturer in the department of Physical Therapy where he teaches orthopaedics in the Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy (MScPT) program. In this role, he draws on his doctoral training in health professions education to continually renew the MScPT curriculum to create a nurturing teaching and learning environment that inspires the next generation of physiotherapists. To this end, he has also contributed to faculty development efforts within the department of Physical Therapy and at the Centre for Faculty Development.

  • Faye Mishna

    New & Evolving Academic Leaders Program

    Professor, Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto

    Faye Mishna joined the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto in 1999 as an Assistant Professor. Prior to her appointment to the Faculty she was Clinical Director of a children’ mental health center. Faye served as the Dean of the Faculty from 2009-2019 and is currently a Professor in the Faculty and cross-appointed to the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto.

  • Heather Flett

    Professor, Learner Wellness, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto
    Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry,Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto

    Dr. Heather Flett is the Temerty Professor of Learner Wellness.  She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. She is an active educator in Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Continuing Medical Education.  She served as a Director of the Postgraduate Wellness Office from January 2018 to September 2021.  She is currently completing a Masters of Health Professions Education with Maastricht University, Netherlands. Her graduate and scholarly work centres on organizational strategies to support health professional wellbeing and healthy/safe work and learning environments.

  • Hei-Ching Kristy Cheung

    Hei-Ching Kristy Cheung is a Research Fellow at the Wilson Centre, and a PhD candidate in the Health Professions Education Research (HPER) doctoral concentration offered by the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME), University of Toronto. Under the supervision of Dr. Nicole Woods, her research aims to explore the practical application of cognitive integration theory in the teaching of clinical decision making. Specifically, she is interested in identifying key factors that will determine the success of applying cognitive integration in script-based education and explore the potential extended benefit of integration in patient management reasoning.

  • Helen Tomalik

    Helen works at Unity Health Toronto within the Education Portfolio.  She holds two roles at Unity Health; as a Manager of Academic Affairs and as an Education Specialist-Dietetics.

    Helen has many years of experience working in Healthcare both as a Clinical Dietitian and as an Educator. Throughout her career, Helen also had the opportunity practice in many different clinical and education settings. In particular, to teach nutrition to undergraduate nursing and nutrition students both at George Brown College and at Toronto Metropolitan University.

    Helen has a Master of Education (Adult Education) from University of Toronto, OISE and enjoys supporting clinicians and learners in all things related to education best practice and training in our Healthcare system.

  • Holly Harris

    Holly Harris (she/her) is a research professional specializing in co-production and participatory action research. Holly has extensive experience in leveraging her lived experiences of mental health system encounters to inform the development, delivery, and research of mental health programming and education. Coupled with her lived and professional experiences, Holly’s Master’s in Critical Disability Studies and certificate in Research Administration, are leveraged to ensure that many perspectives, including lived-experience perspectives, are meaningfully engaged in mental health research, education, and programming. Holly is currently working as the Research Coordinator for the Collaborative Learning College at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and pursuing a PhD in Gender, Feminist, and Women’s Studies at York University.

  • Ivan Silver

    Enhancing Teacher Performance (ETP) Program, Stepping Stones Program, Education Scholars Program, New & Evolving Academic Leaders Program

    Staff Psychiatrist, Geriatric Division, CAMH

    Ivan has had a career long interest in faculty development and professional development particularly the development of our next generation of health professional teachers and supervisors and enhancing the learning of clinicians in practice.He is an award winning teacher, leadership and teaching coach and medical educator. Ivan is a Geriatric Psychiatrist at CAMH and a full Professor in the Department of Psychiatry.

    Ivan was the inaugural director of the Centre for Faculty Development (2002-2009), the Vice-Dean of CPD at the University of Toronto (2005-2011) and the inaugural VP of Education at CAMH (2012-2018). He has published widely in the areas of faculty development and continuing professional development. He is continuing his scholarship in the areas of feedback, coaching,  life-long learning and more recently late-career transitioning. He is enthralled by the beauty of nature, art, world music and making a difference in people’s lives. He believes in the power of butterfly wings.

     

  • Jacquelin Forsey

    Jacquelin is a PhD student at the Rehabilitation Sciences Institute at the University of Toronto under the supervision of Dr. Stella Ng and Dr. Nikki Woods. Previously she completed an undergraduate degree in English Literature at McGill University. Her research interests are focused on the way we prepare medical learners to become expert communicators. Jacquelin’s doctoral work takes a linguistic lens to explore the conceptual knowledge, the basic science, underpinning patient-provider communication. Her first study, a critical scoping review of patient-provider communication came out in 2021, and she is currently working on an analysis of communication teaching materials at UHN.
