Description

This workshop is part of Education Week at Unity Health Toronto.

Compassion is often described as a core value in health care, yet it can be difficult to practice and teach in the realities of clinical work. In the moment, competing priorities such as use of evidence-based practices, time pressures, and system expectations can shape what feels possible.

This interactive workshop invites educators to explore how compassion shows up in everyday clinical care and how it is influenced by these competing demands. Through cases and discussion, participants will develop practical ways to support learners in providing compassionate, patient-centered care while navigating real-world constraints.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize how competing priorities in clinical settings shape what compassionate care looks like in practice
  • Identify practical strategies to support teaching how to enact compassionate, patient-centered care
  • Support learners in navigating complex clinical situations by attending to both patient experiences and the broader context of care

Registration

Please note this workshop is for Unity Health's Education Week and is intended for Unity Health Toronto employees only.
