Join us for a discussion on how contemporary data analysis methods + the movement away from null-hypothesis significance testing are influencing how Statistics is employed in research and evaluation. We will encourage community participation via moderation discussion and an open Q & A session.
Brief speaker bios and presentation abstracts:
Dr. Geoffrey Currie is a professor of nuclear medicine at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga Australia and adjunct Professor of Radiology at Baylor college of Medicine in Houston Texas. Geoff has a long track record of research and education using both conventional statistical approaches and adopting artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches.
In his presentation, Geoff will explore the traditional and emerging approaches to data analysis. Specifically, the role of conventional statistical approaches symbolized by the P value will be explored in health data against the newer approaches associated with machine learning.
This is an open invitation. You may forward it to all interested parties. However, all parties must register to join the series. Space is limited and registration is filled at a first-come-first-serve basis. This session is free of charge but advance registration is mandatory. Upon registration, you will receive log-in details for the virtual (Zoom) event.
We strive to create a safe space for collegial debate, moderated discussion, and audience Q & A. This includes limiting audience size for most of our DDS events.
