We will compare and contrast different “conversational choices” available to educators as part of their learning conversations.

Description
This interactive and experiential workshop has been designed for all health professionals engaged in teaching and learning. Participants will have opportunities to reflect on both providing feedback from the teacher’s perspective and receiving feedback from the learner’s perspective and be able to compare and contrast different “conversational choices” (e.g., feedback and debriefing) available to the educator as part of their learning conversations. Participants will explore two evidence based models or conversational choices, including the R2C2 model and the advocacy inquiry model as practical examples.
Participants will want to take this workshop because it will expand their thinking about learning conversations and provide useful frameworks and tools that they can immediately apply to their teaching in simulation or clinical environments. The workshop facilitators will engage attendees with several learning formats including small group discussion, write/pair/share, and role playing with practice and discussion that will enable participants to apply what they learn to their teaching practices.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to describe a conceptual framework to support post experiential event discussions; compare and contrast different conversational choices for post experiential event discussions; and describe the various ways in which learners make sense of, use or take up information discussed during learning conversations.
