Description
This workshop is for educators and/or people with lived experience of illness who are interested in patient involvement in health professions education.
This workshop will create space for discussion and critical reflection on the myriad ways in which patients are and can be involved in health professions education (including involvement, engagement, partnership, and co-production). We will introduce a conceptual framework for understanding patient involvement more broadly, identify goals for involving patients, and discuss various practices of patient involvement and their ethical implications.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to discuss various practices of involvement, articulate the ethical and social complexities of these practices, and identify a learning plan to support their own efforts towards patient involvement in health professions education.
