Manager of Collaborative Practice and Education, Providence Healthcare, Unity Health Toronto

Lorna is the Manager of Collaborative Practice and Education at Providence Healthcare. This role provides leadership for the health discipline practice of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Dietitians, Speech Language Pathologists and Recreation Therapists. Lorna is passionate in her support of high quality health discipline practice. With extensive experience in interprofessional models of care, she strives to promote all opportunities in collaboration to create the highest possibility in team based innovation. Lorna has taken her skills nationally to teach teams across Canada how to work more effectively and better together. Lorna is also the co-chair of the Fall and Injury Reduction Steering Committee at Unity Health Toronto.

Lorna is an Occupational Therapist. She received her training at the University of Toronto. She holds an Advance Practice in Arthritis Care Certification. Lorna has a Status Appointment at the University of Toronto. She has published many articles on patient safety climate using a team approach. Lorna won the 2019 University of Toronto Program Award for an Outstanding Team that Role Models Interprofessional Collaboration for Patient-Centered Care, a 2018 and 2016  University of Toronto Team Award of Merit for Interprofessional Teaching, and the 2017 University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine, Continuing Professional Development Interprofessional Health Care Team Continuing Education Award.
