This workshop is part of Education Week at Unity Health. The workshop will explore the fundamentals and practical application of Generative AI (GAI) in Health Professions Education (HPE) through 4 components. Initially, we will set the stage with an overview of Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly GenAI, highlighting its significance and potential impact on HPE. In the second part, attendees will engage in hands-on activities, applying GAI tools to create and refine HPE content. The third part delves into the ethical aspects, discussing and exploring the implications of GAI integration in educational materials, addressing concerns such as data privacy, bias, and authenticity. Finally, the workshop culminates in a collaborative session, encouraging participants to brainstorm innovative uses and fostering creative approaches to GAI use in HPE.
Objectives:
- Identify the fundamentals of Generative AI and its implications for health professions education.
- Apply generative AI tools to design and refine educational materials.
- Identify and discuss ethical considerations in using AI for educational purposes.
