Description

This workshop is for the health professional currently engaged in clinical activity and perhaps education at their practice site and/or academic institution.

Participants will be provided with some didactic framing of the issues to be explored; engaged in reflective activities and discussions about desirable and undesirable professional behaviours and the bi-directional relationships that exist between these behaviours, healthcare professional wellness, and the creation of psychologically and culturally safe environments; and, provided with concrete skill development to support professional values in their institutions. A focus of the workshop will be: alignment - and misalignment - of individual, collegial, team, and institutional professional values, together with learning needs and opportunities for skill development to address misalignment between these entities.

Participants can expect to leave the workshop with a personal action plan for future knowledge development and additional skills building.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to describe the characteristics of psychologically and culturally safe healthcare environments; analyse the relationships that exist between such environments and individual wellness and adherence to professional values; and, identify knowledge and skills required to support professional values in their own careers and institutions and to develop a learning plan to support their acquisition.
