Presenters

Tracy Martin

My name is Tracy Martin and I work at Providence Healthcare on the Orthopedic and Amputee units. I have worked at Providence Healthcare for approximately thirty years. I completed my Recreation and Leisure Services Diploma at Centennial College and I am a registered member of Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (R/TRO). My favorite part of being a preceptor is that I am able to share/teach knowledge and skills I have learned over the years in working with different patient populations. I enjoy challenging students and in giving them the autonomy to be creative and innovative during their time with us.

Tsultrim Wangmo

My name is Tsultrim and I work at Providence Healthcare on the Geriatrics Unit. I have been working at Providence for a little over two years. I graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in Biology and then completed a post graduate certificate in Therapeutic Recreation at Georgian College.

Melanie Craig

I work on the Palliative Care unit and Transitional Care unit at Providence Healthcare. I have been at Providence, Unity Health Toronto for the past three and a half years.  I achieved my Undergraduate at Laurentian University and Recreation Therapy post-graduate diploma at Georgian College. I enjoy being a preceptor in the health care environment as it allows me to pass on my clinical experience to another interested future clinician.

Courtney Mabee

I have been working at Providence Healthcare for five years and am currently on both Stroke and Neuro Inpatient units. I graduated from Seneca College with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation. As a preceptor, I enjoy supporting my students as they apply learned skills and instilling passion and promoting the importance of the role of Recreation Therapy.

Mary Scarborough

My name is Mary Scarborough and I have been working at Providence Healthcare, UHT for thirteen years. I completed my BA in Recreation and Leisure with a concentration in Inclusive and Therapeutic Recreation from Brock University and started here as a student, completing my 420 hour placement in the Stroke and Neuro inpatient/outpatient units. I was then hired in the Adult Day Program and a year later moved to the Stroke and Neuro Outpatient Clinic where I have been working clinically since. In 2018 I took on an additional role as the Professional Practice Lead for Recreation Therapy. Many of the Recreation Therapists over the years that have been hired here started out as students, myself included. I love the exchange of learning and sharing with students and watching them grow in their practice.

Rachel Blair

I am currently practicing Recreation Therapy at St. Joseph’s Health Centre - Unity Health Toronto within the inpatient mental health program. My career with St. Joseph's began in January 2021, where I utilize my Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) credential to serve the inpatient population. I hold a Bachelor of Recreation and Leisure Studies with a Specialization in Recreation Therapy (Honours) from Brock University. At Brock I completed my individual honours thesis on the mindfulness teacher’s experience of facilitating to outpatient mental health groups. I also guest lecture for Recreation Therapy programs at Seneca College, Brock University, and Niagara College! My favourite part about being a preceptor is encouraging students to use curiosity as a tool for both professional and personal development! I really enjoy collaborating and creating innovative Recreation Therapy programs with my students!

Sonia Bajwa

My name is Sonia Bajwa and I work at St Joseph’s, 2L Medicine, Stroke and Telemetry, and 4L Medicine and Nephrology. I have been at Unity health Toronto for almost four years, starting at the St Joseph’s RCC in summer of 2019 as a part-time Recreation Therapist.
