Description
The term "scholarship" encompasses a wide range of academic activities essential to the university's mission. However, it is often incorrectly used to describe non-research activities, which are then seen as less important in the careers of health professional academics. This misconceived application of the term scholarship holds implications for career advancement and the promotion of educators and teachers.
This workshop offers a thorough overview of the various forms of educational scholarship and their connection to the university's mission. It also provides strategies for showcasing impact and documenting scholarly contributions in teaching, innovation, curriculum development, research, and advocacy for academic promotion.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- describe education scholarship is in relation to HPE
- identify the roles they can play on education scholarship projects
- understand how to make their education work scholarly (including finding and using existing HPE literature)
- understand how to document impact of HPE scholarship for promotion

This workshop is for health professionals who are beginning to engage in education scholarship/research and are interested in starting/leading/collaborating on education scholarship projects.
