Upcoming events offered at the CFD are listed below. This includes workshops, programs (open for registration),

community events and rounds. All events are open to anyone who wishes to register/apply, unless

otherwise specified. Our rounds are free for everyone to attend. Please note that faculty and staff from the

UofT Temerty Faculty of Medicine and Unity Health Toronto staff, physicians, learners and patient/family partners

    This workshop will explore the relationship between Indigenous peoples and settlers, and examine the history of laws and policies and how they’ve shaped those relationships. It will allow participants to unpack the ideas of colonization and identity, and explore how those current terms are based on those historical relationships.

    This workshop will provide an opportunity for in-depth exploration of the science of adaptive expertise. We will describe the construct of adaptive expertise, present examples of evidence-based cognitive and curricular mechanisms that support development of adaptive expertise and help participants envision the translation of theoretical research into education practice.

    This workshop will explore and unpack common barriers and insecurities in taking on a more active role of allyship. Participants will complete a structured critical process that culminates in specific strategies for recognizing opportunities for allyship, and practicing and debriefing what to say and//or do.

    This program introduces participants to the language and frameworks of anti-oppression and social justice. It explores how the Canadian healthcare system continues to participate in discrimination and oppression. It also begins to explore how health care professionals can engage in praxis, which is theory-informed action in the pursuit of social justice.
